CUNY Removes Article on Johnny Depp Lawyer

CUNY Removes Article on Johnny Depp Lawyer

The City College of New York taken off from its site an posting (archived here) about a 2015 Hunter Higher education graduate who worked on actor Johnny Depp’s legal group during Depp’s recent defamation situation versus his ex-wife Amber Read. The gist of the deleted piece was that the CUNY alum, 29-year-previous Yarelyn Mena, was the youngest law firm on Depp’s crew. But critics of the report swiftly stated it was insensitive to the concerns central to the Depp situation, namely Heard’s outstanding allegations of abuse by Depp. (Depp received his case next a jury demo that attracted considerably consideration.)

“We fully grasp the robust damaging feelings this short article elicited and apologize for publishing the merchandise,” CUNY stated in a statement. “We have taken off it from our CUNYverse blog site. The short article was not meant to convey help for Mr. Depp, implicitly or otherwise, or to phone into question any allegations that ended up built by Amber Read. Domestic violence is a critical difficulty in our culture and we regret any ache this report may have brought on.”
