NEW CUMBERLAND — Nine Hancock County learners not too long ago competed in the state SkillsUSA competitors in Fairmont, with the team bringing property a collection of gold and silver medals.
The nine college students, enrolled in the county’s job and specialized education and learning applications by way of the John D. Rockefeller IV Career Middle, competed in the types of car technological innovation, diesel, health care terminology, graphic structure-group company, T-shirt structure and pin design.
“They did a great work,” Dan Enich, director of vocation, technical and grownup instruction, stated throughout Monday’s conference of the Hancock County Board of Education and learning.
This was the 1st staff from Hancock County to contend in SkillsUSA in five a long time, according to officials.
Students symbolizing Hancock County in the competitors ended up Andrew Lamp, R.J. Guthrie and Lydia Mascio of Weir Higher, and Buck Franklin, Abigail Roberts, Evan Logston, Rylie O’Rourke, Charidy Ward and Gavin Malcomb of Oak Glen Higher.
Bringing dwelling gold medals ended up Mascio in the category of health-related terminology, and the staff of Roberts, O’Rourke and Logston in graphic style and design-neighborhood company.
Malcomb received a silver medal for the T-shirt style and design class, and Guthrie been given silver in car know-how.
The gold-medal recipients will go on to the Countrywide SkillsUSA competitiveness, to be held in June in Atlanta, Ga.
