Welcome to the very first of a new podcast job interview collection I’m titling, “Pedagogy Matters.” This episode, recorded on May possibly 30, 2022, features the pedagogy of my wife, Shelly Fryer, which I would summarize as “A Pedagogy of Computational Wondering: Constructionism, Coding, Robotics, Play, and University student Selection.” Shelly started out her journey as a classroom trainer in 1987 right after she graduated from the Faculty of Training at Texas Tech College. In addition to training in numerous Title 1 elementary educational facilities in Lubbock ISD, Texas, Shelly taught for the U.S. Section of Protection in Germany for 3 years. Soon after remaining dwelling with our young children for several years, Shelly served as the Director of PreSchool Ministries at our church in Edmond, Oklahoma, and returned to the classroom in 2013 to teach 3rd, 4th and 5th grades at Beneficial Tomorrows in Oklahoma Town for 4 yrs, which is Oklahoma’s only school solely serving homeless youngsters and their households. In 2017, Shelly moved to Casady Faculty, exactly where she taught for the earlier five years, starting in Language Arts for two many years and then training STEM (Science, Engineering, Engineering and Math.) As Shelly shares in the job interview, when she came back again to the classroom in 2013, she moved into an iPad 1:1 university student studying ecosystem, and “jumped in with the two feet” studying to train with 20-very first century digital equipment for pupil engagement, creative imagination, and evaluation.
