Special Education teacher at Broughton Magnet High School named WCPSS Teacher of the Year

Carolina Olson has been in the Particular Courses Section at Broughton High University since 2015. She also served as a instruction assistant for the TEACCH Autism Plan throughout the summers of 2014 by 2017.
Olson is a graduate of Clemson University, with a bachelor’s degree in Special Education and learning. She is accredited in Exceptional Little ones- Tailored and Standard Curriculum (K-12) and holds National Board Certification as an Extraordinary Requires Professional.
“I use a wide range of techniques to make certain that all learners are afforded possibilities for accomplishment,” Olson wrote about her instructional type. “My pupils just take benchmarks, interest inventories, and transition assessments to offer me information about what they at this time know, what they want to know, and what their passions outside the house of school are. I use these pursuits to increase engagement and determination to satisfy academic aims.”
Olson also serves on the North Carolina Superintendent’s Teacher Leadership Council and has served as a curriculum author for the NC Office of Instruction. She was a Kenan Fellow for Teacher Leadership in 2019-2020 and was named a WCPSS Diane Kent Parker First-12 months Trainer of the Year Award winner in Unique Education in 2016.
As Trainer of the 12 months, Olson will take part in the Go Worldwide NC global examine software in Chile in the summer of 2023. The vacation is sponsored by the Dan Royster Memorial Teacher Award, in honor of a previous WCPSS science teacher.
Olson acquired an engraved award, a reward card to the Angus Barn, a weekend keep at the Umstead Lodge and Spa with complimentary breakfast at Heron’s Cafe, together with several other goodies, including an autographed hockey stick and T-shirt donated by the Carolina Hurricanes.
