Complaint for manslaughter issued after death at youth jail

A juvenile target died at the clinic after getting rid of consciousness at the detention center, officers say.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — (The movie higher than is from a previous report)

A juvenile grievance for involuntary manslaughter has been secured for the teen involved in the fight that resulted in the demise of one more juvenile at Waycross Regional Youth Detention Center, in accordance to the GBI.

The target died at the healthcare facility immediately after shedding consciousness at the detention middle, officers say.

In addition, GBI states Thomas Lee Hicks, 30, was billed with one particular depend of murder in the 2nd degree, two counts of cruelty to youngsters in the 2nd degree, and 1 count of violation of oath of office. 

Hicks was a juvenile correctional officer in the Waycross RYDC.   

Information from the GBI investigation unveiled that Hicks allegedly allowed juveniles to take part in a “battle recreation” in his existence.  

The teen target was identified by his household as 17-year-previous Loyce Tucker.

The juvenile at the center of the complaint has not been determined.

Pursuing Hicks’ arrest, Commissioner Tyrone Oliver for the Ga Division of Juvenile Justice produced the subsequent statement: 

“The Ga Division of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) is deeply saddened by the passing of a single of our youths. We ship our heartfelt condolence to the youth’s family members, close friends, and cherished ones, and they stay in our ideas and prayers. Upon finding out this afternoon of the results of the GBI investigation, I straight away terminated Mr. Thomas Hicks from work with the Department. The steps of Mr. Hicks are deplorable and do not symbolize the core values of this agency.

DJJ takes the accountability of running safe amenities for youth and personnel critically. Need to there be any evidence of workers or youth misconduct or legal action, we will choose all appropriate actions.”
